My Career Service with the United
States Navy, Atlantic and Pacific Fleets, during war and
non-war (World War II, Korean Action, and Vietnam Conflict)
began at the U. S. Naval Training Station (Boot Camp), at Newport,
Rhode Island.
In conjunction with Navy military
duties, served in the Electrical and Electronics fields
of Naval Aviation
(Avionics). Supervised, inspected and carried-out trouble-shooting,
maintenance, calibration, repair, installation, testing and
service on Communication, Navigation, Radar, and Magnetic Anomaly
Detection equipment. Set-up shop, laboratory, and electronic
field instruments. Participated as a Designated Air-crew-man
(AC): Airborne Air Controller, Radio/Radar and Magnetic
Anomaly Detection (MAD) Operator; on board Navy carrier-based
aircraft (numerous catapult
take-off launches and tail-hook arresting
gear landings afloat), and land-based aircraft ashore. A
Designated Instructor with classroom and laboratory experience
instructing Electrical and Electronics Technology. Also, taught
Applied Mathematics and the Slide Rule at a Naval Air Technical
Training Center (NATTC). Attended several specialty training
schools to support artisan proficiency. And, on three occasions,
was admitted to U. S. Naval Hospitals for surgery. |
